GO STAR: Piyush Kumar – AIR 1 GATE CSE 2024

We are proud to introduce Piyush Kumar, the All India Rank 1 in GATE Computer Science 2024. Piyush was a Complete Course and Test Series enrolled student of GO Classes, and we proudly call him our GO STAR.

After the GATE 2023 results were announced, Piyush decided to start over — not just to attempt again, but to do it with the right guidance. On March 18, 2023, he joined the GO Classes Complete Course. In his own words, during his first attempt (in 3rd year), he had joined a different institute. But for his final attempt in the 4th year, he relied completely on GO Classes. He shared in his interview that one of his first interactions was a Computer Networks doubt he asked on March 11, 2023, and Sachin Sir still remembers that moment. Piyush’s approach was not just to complete the course but to understand every topic deeply. Even for topics like C Programming, which he thought he already knew, GO Classes’ lectures made him realize that he was missing out on nearly 50% of the fundamentals. He admired Sachin Sir’s lecture explaining how C links memory and logic, calling it “a gap-filler.”

“GO Classes covers topics so well that I didn’t feel the need to refer to any books,” he said.

He particularly appreciated how PYQs were discussed to clear deeper concepts, such as in multilevel paging, which actually appeared in the exam.

Piyush joined the GO Classes Test Series along with the complete course. Initially, his marks were low but he trusted the process. With time, his scores improved . He highlighted that the tests had no repeated questions, which made every attempt a fresh learning experience. The challenging level helped him get better with each test. One of his memorable moments was securing a Top 10 rank in the All India Mock Test — for which he received goodies, and proudly shared it on LinkedIn.

Piyush scored 91.07 marks in Set 2 (after normalization) and secured All India Rank 1.
He shared in his interview how he called Sachin Sir and Deepak Sir right after the results — to share the moment and thank them.
